About Me
I bring 25+ years of experience working both in-house and agency-side across a wide range of engagements, including retail, B2C, B2B, and direct customer experiences.Over this time, my career has evolved from a purely creative design role through digital and animation, and ultimately into a more focused practice in UX.
Alongside hands-on design work, I have extensive experience leading and mentoring design teams of all sizes, supporting transitions into product teams, and managing stakeholder expectations to ensure smooth and successful handovers.
I’m particularly passionate about facilitating collaborative design workshops, running “Live draw” show-and-tell sessions, and leading discovery sessions. Bringing together people with diverse perspectives and encouraging live feedback consistently leads to stronger concepts, better alignment, and a more embedded design culture.
What I do
Design leadership
I believe a good design leadership in a product design environment balances craft, strategy, and people. It involves setting a clear design vision aligned with business goals, while consistently advocating for user-centred outcomes. Strong design leaders create the conditions for designers to do their best work, foster close collaboration across product and engineering, and ensure decisions are informed by insight, data, and real user needs.
A key part of my role is facilitation, guiding teams through design sprints, workshops, and collaborative sessions that help teams align quickly, explore ideas safely, and move from ambiguity to clarity. Effective design leadership builds trust, supports teams through complexity, and helps organisations see design not as a service function, but as a strategic partner in delivering meaningful, well-considered products.
Product design / UX
As a product designer, I focus on creating thoughtful, user-centred solutions that balance customer needs with business goals. I enjoy working closely with product and engineering partners to explore problems, test ideas early, and turn complexity into clear, usable experiences.
I’m hands-on in my approach, from research and facilitation through to design delivery, and I value collaboration, feedback, and iteration as essential parts of building strong products. Above all, I care about creating work that is practical, well-crafted, and genuinely useful for the people who rely on it.
UI design
As a UI designer, I focus on creating clear, consistent, and scalable interfaces that support both great user experiences and efficient product delivery. I have a strong interest in the production and evolution of design systems, ensuring they are practical, well-documented, and easy for teams to adopt.
I work closely with engineering to define, build, and manage component libraries, paying attention to detail, accessibility, and reuse. By treating components as living products rather than static assets, I help teams move faster, maintain quality, and deliver cohesive experiences across platforms.
I also love developing illustration which is a great bridge between iconography and photography especially when photography is expensive and doesn;t always convey your message.
Service design
I take a holistic view of experiences, looking beyond individual screens to understand how people, processes, and systems work together. I focus on mapping end-to-end journeys, identifying pain points and opportunities, and designing services that are coherent, efficient, and centred on real user needs.
Good service design practice, to me, is rooted in strong discovery, collaboration, and iteration. It means involving the right people early, using tools like journey maps and service blueprints to create shared understanding, and validating ideas through testing and feedback. By aligning teams around a clear view of the service as a whole, I help ensure solutions are sustainable, scalable, and genuinely valuable for both users and the organisation.
